The δ 13 C profile from an interval of the Martin Point section in western Newfoundland (Canada) spans the upper Furongian (uppermost Cambrian). The interval (~90 m) is a part of the Green Point Formation of the Cow Head Group and consists of the Martin Point (lower) and the Broom Point (upper) members.   Stratigraphy and correlation of the Cambro-Ordovician Cow Head Group, western Newfoundland. It is more likely that the conglomerates, which are assigned to the Kap Mjølner Formation (Higgins et al., ), record a composite tectonic-eustatic signal analogous to the Cow Head Group of western Newfoundland (James and Stevens, ).

Deposition of the Amundsen Land Group continued until the early Silurian, when a dramatic depositional. The Cow Head Group, therefore, is not a single formation but a succession of conglomerates and intervening beds ranging in age from Middle Cambrian to Middle Ordovician.

With few exceptions the boulders of any conglomerate are approximately the same age as the immediately underlying strata.
